Our Integrated Pest Management Program (IPM) for ornamental trees and shrubs was developed many years ago in response to the need for improved pest management while reducing reliance on pesticides. Professional Grounds, Inc. was one of the 1st companies to employ this strategy and continues to be on the forefront of the industry. We follow all trade/university publications to ensure we are always employing the best management strategies and using the best control products.
Through frequent property inspections from our VA Certified Horticulturalist, we are able to identify pests, cultural and environmental problems before they become widespread on your property. This allows for selective versus large scale treatments (thereby reducing the overall pesticide usage), more timely recommendations to correct cultural and environmental problems, and ultimately saves you money in plant replacement costs. We have been successful in reducing pesticide usage by 75 percent while effectively managing pests to a non-destructive level.
All applications are performed by a Commercial VA Certified Ornamental Applicator and are designed to detect and treat insect problems such as scale, mites, bagworms, lace bugs, and tent caterpillars. When necessary, prior to spring mulch, ornamental plants may require supplemental applications of N-P-K (nitrogen, phosphorous, potassium). Should micronutrient deficiencies exist, we can propose a plan to correct those deficiencies.
